Big History Jubilee Event
Celebrating 25 years of Big History
In 2014 the Big History Institute is celebrating the birth of this exciting discipline at Macquarie University, and reflecting on the role that Professor David Christian has played in delivering Big History to students around the world.
Over 90 former teachers, students, academics, staff and members of the public attended our Big History Jubilee. The event featured a keynote from David Christian, video testimonials from key collaborators, and presentations from members of the Big History Institute.
We thank you for joining us on an incredibly exciting journey.
''I started teaching Big History exactly 25 years ago, and this year's half-jubilee of Big History at Macquarie on Nov 18 was a wonderful event and my warm thanks to all who organized it and all who attended. For me it was a real thrill to meet with students who had taken the course 20 or even 25 years ago when we really didn't know what we were doing. Their enthusiasm more than two decades later confirms my impression that the big history questions are exciting and important, however we teach them! Polaroid pictures of the event will preserve its memory for the deep future!"
